Born and raised in Regina, I grew up an avid athelete. I enjoyed playing every sport I could. I competed in hockey, lacrosse, rugby, team handball, golf and of course football throughout my high school years. Knowing I wanted to continue to play football, I choose to attend the University of Saskatchewan and join the Huskies football team. It actually wasn't so much of a selection as a requirement due to the fact that my two older brothers (Joel and Chris) were on the team, and my little brother (Trevor) would later join the team as well.
Upon acceptance to the University of Saskatchewan's College of Engineering, I began my life as a student athelete. My first year was a huge adjustment for me. First year engineering was very tough, and I was a back up on the football team. After I finally got disciplined, school became easier and I started every game in my university career from my second year on. Balancing engineering and football wasn't always easy, but in the spring of 1999 it all became worth it. It was then that I graduated with a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering and began my professional football career with the Montreal Alouettes.
